The War Memorial, despite the best efforts of Maiden Newton Parish Council over the years, is showing signs of age and is in need of considerable restoration work. In particular the inscription plaques have deteriorated to the point where replacement of the panels may be the only option. Maiden Newton Parish Council has been unable to obtain a grant for the work and, at the time of writing, has decided to bear the cost of repairs out of Council funds. Planning permission has been received for the restoration, which will involve new plaques, and the work should be completed by November.

I was delighted to receive the following information about those named on our War Memorial from Mr. Andrew Williams.

Click on the names on the photographs of the plaques to open a window which will give you more details. Close the window when you have finished with it and this window will still be on your screen. I will redo these as pop-ups in due course.
